Q & A

Q. How much fat is in each Dr. Smoothie?
A. There is no fat in Dr. Smoothie.

Q. How many calories are in a 12 oz. Smoothie?
A. There are approximately 200 calories in a 12 oz. smoothie.

Q. Are there any artificial flavors or colors in a Dr. Smoothie?
A. There are no artificial flavors or colors in Dr. Smoothie purees.

Q. How much sugar is in a 12 oz. Dr. Smoothie?
A. Dr. Smoothie has about as much sugar as 2 medium bananas, 3 medium apples, 3 cups of grapes or 3 medium pears. To compare Dr. Smoothie to other beverages, Dr. Smoothie has the same sugar as a cup of orange juice or apple juice. It has less sugar than most prune, grape juice and pineapple juice.

Q. Can I add fresh fruit to Dr. Smoothie?
A. Yes, but remember not every fruit may not be available year round. We suggest using fresh fruit that is in season and readily available. Promote a weekly special by adding these fresh fruits to your Dr. Smoothie.

Q. What does IQF stand for?
A. Individually Quick Frozen

Q. What should I look for in choosing a smoothie concentrate?
A. Read labels carefully. Fruit should be the first and foremost ingredient. Be sure to choose an all-natural smoothie concentrate. There's a big difference between labels that read "Naturally Delicious" and "All-Natural". Using a concentrate like Dr. Smoothie will ensure flavor consistency, portion control and will be less expensive than using fresh or frozen fruit.

Q. What are the advantages of adding additional ingredients to my smoothie concentrate?
A. Higher revenues can be achieved by adding Dr. Smoothie Vanilla powders or fruit. A customized 'drink of the day' can be priced a dollar or more higher than a plain smoothie, for a small additional cost.

Q. How much additional fruit should I add to a drink?
A. We recommend adding 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of fruit to a 16 oz. drink. An average strawberry or one inch of banana weights about 1/2 oz. Use about 2 inches banana or more, depending on the size of the drink. Adding too much banana or other fruit will drown out the flavor of the concentrate that you are trying to enhance. Creativity is the key to keeping your smoothie menu fresh and exciting. Experiment mixing different flavors and adding Vanilla powders or fresh fruit. The combinations are endless.

Q. How much coffee is in Cafe Essentials?
A. Rough average, 1/3 to 1 tsp of coffee concentrate (not grounds) in 1 serving of a 16/18 oz. blended beverage.
